Money Saving Monday – Sanity!!

July 20th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I’ve had a busy, busy weekend getting things done so that I can relax and enjoy next weekend – John and I decided at the last minute to head down to West Palm Beach, FL to celebrate our 3rd anniversary.  I can’t believe it’s already been three years since our wedding.  The time has just flown by.  Anyway, in the spirit of being busy I’ve decided today’s Money Saving Monday subject should be ways to save money by saving your sanity.  That’s right, I went there.  Save money on anti-anxiety drugs, psychotherapy, and hard liquor by following these simple tips:

*Hire a planner or coordinator AT LEAST for the day of your wedding.  I know a lot of my guest bloggers have mentioned this, but I can’t say enough how much peace of mind you will have just knowing that someone is there to make sure everything is as you want it to be.

*Have an emergency kit – or if you’ve followed tip #1 ask your coordinator if she will have an emergency kit with her.  A whole slew of disasters can be avoided simply by having a “just in case” kit ready and with you on the day of your wedding.   Check out this adorable do-it-yourself wedding day survival kit my friend Michele posted about.  (P.S. you should also take a peek at the selection of bridal merchandise from her shop – great bridal party gift ideas in there as well as some cute bride and groom swag).

*Know when NOT to do it yourself.  There’s no faster way to make your head spin around like Linda Blair than to have 65 different DIY projects that need to be completed by your wedding day.  A few DIY items will add personality and charm to your wedding, 65 will make you crazy.

*Delegate.  Have you got a whole slew of bridesmaids asking what they can do to help?  Take them up on their offer!  No I don’t mean command your maid of honor to give you a pedicure, but there are simple things that they can help you with that could make a world of difference.  For example, you love your sweet Aunt Sally, but know that her OCD, high-stress personality could very well send you head first into a bridezilla moment on the day of your wedding.  Assign a bridesmaid the task of keeping Aunt Sally away from you at least until the reception when everyone will be more relaxed.

That’s all I have for now!  I’ll be back later in the week :)

Thanks for the shout out, Amber! *hugs*

These are all great tips, and I wish your blog had been around when I got married 6 years ago!
