Finally I am getting around to posting our 3rd Day in London. Only it wasn’t really London because we may have started and ended there, but we spent our whole day exploring Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath – Mom was thrilled to be going to Windsor, I couldn’t wait to get to Stonehenge, and Bath was just kind of a bonus, LOL.
We started the day at Victoria Court Station to find our bus for the day. No wait, scratch that, I was informed by our guide that we were riding Coaches not buses. Apparently chartered bus drivers find it offensive to be called bus drivers, who knew?? From there it took us longer than expected to get to Windsor due to a “Broke Down Laurie” – i.e. a broken down truck. It was at this point that we learned that a British traffic jam is called a que (just like they call a line to pay a que). Anyway we finally made it to Windsor and it was breathtaking.

Just beyond the statue of Queen Victoria is Windsor Town Hall – where Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, now the Dutches of Cornwall, were married and where Sir Elton John and his partner wed.

And more of Windsor Castle as we approached the entrance to the state rooms (which again we weren’t allowed to photograph – BOOOO!!!!).

Inside the staterooms was amazing. Mom was curious to see what it would look like since there had been a bad fire there in 1992 – the year the Queen called her “Annus Horribilis” or horrible year due to both the fire and the separation of Charles and Diana. Turns out there was work being done to the wing where the fire began and thus most of the treasures normally housed there had been moved. Sweet!!
After visiting the state rooms we visited the gift shop, the cathedral, and headed back to the bus.

Then we were on our way to Stonehenge. STONEHENGE!! Seriously there are not enough exclamation marks in the world to described how jazzed I was about seeing this monument. I’ve always been one to like odd things and Stonehenge is pretty much the mother load of odd and unexplainable.
And this is the part where I post a ridiculously high amount of pictures of Stonehenge. Should you be someone who is uninterested in “a bunch of old rocks” (MOM!) feel free to scroll past this part

Creepy birds. The birds and the druid guy really set the tone for seeing the monument.

Can you tell I’m more excited than mom is??

Rocks!! Glorious, old rocks!!

Now if you made it through that, pat yourself on the back
After Stonehenge, we got back on the coach and made our way to Bath. Mom and I were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed Bath. I reminded me so much of Italy, I told mom now she could feel like she had been to England and to Italy!
These are some photos from around the town before we entered the actual Roman Bath for which the city is named.

Then it was time to go in the Roman Bath. One of the reasons I chose the tour company we went with over the others was that this particular tour included a guide for the bath that was dressed as a Roman Centurian. Hokey? Yes, but totally fun. It’s not everyday you get to listen to a guy with a thick Irish accent try to sound Roman

We did just a bit more wandering around before it was time to return to London.

Note the taxi is a Jag!!

We had a wonderful time on our Windsor/Stoneheng/Bath tour and while it would have been better to have more time at each spot, with us only having one day to spend to see all three this tour was perfect. We got a taste of each spot and that was perfect for our short trip.

I would have had to touch the rocks. You know how I like to touch really old things.

Okay, 4th picture down after the pic of you and your mom at Stonehenge (the black & white/sepia photo) -> absolutely awesome! I loved that it was overcast while you were there. Adds to the mystery!
Love the editting on all the photos. Stunning!

Oh gosh, the pictures just keep getting better! I’m right there with you – would LOVE to see Stonehenge! My brother went a few years ago (I’m so jealous!), but only posted TWO pictures! Thank you for every one of yours! What an amazing adventure!

Ok – love the photos, the clouds above Stonehenge are amazing, really adds to the scene.
But being English – I have to correct you on some of your words. A truck is a “lorry” and a traffic holdup is a “queue”.
Strangly, I was in London the same time as you, but sadly on buisness and not enjoy the sights.
Glad you liked our country and that you got to see some of the wonderful countryside, not just London.
