Christmas has come and gone and it was a wonderful one in our home I’m really really bad about taking personal pics over the holidays, but I did manage to take a few this year. Mom and I decided to make sugar cookies for some Christmas gifts and since she wanted to scrap the event I took some pics.
Rolling out the dough and cutting out the shapes was the easy part
Then it was time for the hard part – decorating!
I was up until midnight icing cookies!! But I was pleased with how they turned out and they were tasty too.
And last but not least, the day after Christmas my friend Tiffany came over and we engaged in our 2nd year of creating a dessert with bacon. Last year we made (fabulous) bacon cupcakes, so this year we decided to up the difficulty level and try bacon toffee ala this website. Really, trying to make anything that requires a candy thermometer frightens me but I am proud to say that Tiffany and I pulled it off, despite dropping the entire thermometer into the candy at one point. We did make some slight modifications to the recipe. #1 we used maple bacon and #2 I decided to coat the toffee in dark chocolate b/c really, everything is better with chocolate.
Other than cooking I did a whole lot of spending time with family and even made time for some scrapbooking. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well I’ll be back later this week with a sneak peek of Saqi and Alex’s wedding, ceremony 1 of 4.
