Amanda and Ben – Nashville DIY Wedding (part 1)

September 23rd, 2010 · 7 Comments

Amanda and Ben’s wedding was incredible.  So incredible that I’ve determined it’s not all going to fit into one blog entry.  Today I’m focusing on people and events.  Tomorrow evening I will present all the details.  And this wedding certainly was not lacking in details.  If you are a regular blog reader you might remember from their engagement photos that this couple has been together for over 10 years.  If I didn’t know better I would think they had been working on DIY projects since they first started dating!  But I will ramble on more about that tomorrow :)  For now, I’ll tell you the story of their day and we can all once again be wowed by how amazing these two are together.

I started the morning with Mandy and her maid of honor Ashlee at Trim Classic Barber Shop.

These two are so much fun!!

Then it was off to the church to finish getting ready.  I adored Mandy’s Mom’s reaction to seeing her in her wedding gown.

And can you blame her??  Amanda looked absolutely stunning.

And Ben played the dashing groom quite well…

Then it was first look time!

Since Mandy and Ben opted for a first look and the ceremony and reception site were close to each other, we took the time to do a fun little shoot with their reception details before people arrived and while the lighting was fabulous!

The bride and groom cut out was just incredible!!  Love it!!

And I love that Mandy had a parasol.  So much fun!

Then it was back to the church for the ceremony!

Then back to the reception site where the party was already underway.

I loved this moment just after Mandy and Ben were announced into the reception – all those kids from the “Kid Corner” rushed over to hug and love on the new Mr. and Mrs.  So sweet!!  I also loved later that one of the girls asked Mandy if she would ever see her again (and no she’s not moving away!).  Kids are so funny!

After dinner the dancing began.

“Say hello to my little friend.”

Sweetness :)

NashvilleDIYWedding0034

Mandy’s step-grandpa was the officiant for the ceremony.  This is him and his wife winning the anniversary dance.  They were adorable together on the dance floor.

NashvilleDIYWedding0035

If you are a girl, you know you and your girlfriends have that one song that just takes you right back to a place where you used to drop everything and belt out the lyrics no matter where you were.  Can you guess what Mandy and her girls are belting out here??  The earworm known as Mmmbop.

NashvilleDIYWedding0036

Then Ben requested the DJ play Crash.  Mandy and Ben danced to it alone on the dance floor like they were the only people on earth.  So romantic.

NashvilleDIYWedding0037

And then there was a grand sparkler/bubble exit!  I loved these two shots of them in the glow of the sparklers.

Come back tomorrow for a close up look at all their amazing DIY projects and their wedding slideshow!!  Trust me you don’t want to miss it!!

For all of their moments that we (all their parents) have witnessed, these photos capture and express what a beautiful and fun couple they are – thank you for so many “tissue” memories – Ben’s Mom
