I have to be the luckiest photographer ever. My entire month of May is filled to the brim with beautiful, totally in love couples and Maeghan and Josh were the perfect ones to start it all off! They were married last Saturday at Front Porch Farms in a personal, touching ceremony. They exchanged vows they had written themselves in which they both promised to be adventurers together – I just love that! And their reception? One of the greatest parties ever. I seriously don’t know if I’ve ever seen people have more fun!

Maeghan and Josh – thank you so much for having me there to capture your day. You are both such special people and I know your life together will be filled with joy and laughter.

It’s no secret that I love photographing dogs. Last weekend I had the opportunity to photograph some of the dogs competing for Murfreesboro Magazine‘s first annual Cover Dog search and it was a blast! I had the best time and met some of the sweetest dogs! Below are some of my favorites but there were so many great dogs that I’m glad I don’t have to choose. Tiffany and Scott – Front Porch Farms Wedding

Tiffany and Scott were married at Front Porch Farms last Saturday. The weather may have been gloomy and cold, but I can assure you that their wedding was filled with the kind of warmth and laughter that only comes from two people who love each other very much. This also happened to be my first wedding after having the girls, and it seems that having them has turned me into a complete sap. I spent a good portion of the day dabbing tears onto my sleeve so that I could still see to get a shot! Tiffany’s mom giving her advice on marriage just before she slipped on her wedding dress – tears. First look where Scott is so obviously head over heels for Tiffany – tears. Father daughter dance – tears. Having my daughters has brought new meaning to weddings for me and I hope that is reflected in my photography. Tiffany and Scott, it is so apparent how much you love each other and I absolutely loved being there to capture it for you. Thank you for allowing me that honor.

Jessica and Jason describe themselves as “a little more country than they would like to admit.” I have to say, I kinda love that and I kinda love them too! Jessica, like myself, is a Nashville native and Jason is a real country gentleman. They are just perfect together. They got engaged while fishing, hence the poles, and will be getting married in October. These next 6 months are going to fly by so enjoy the rest of your engagement you two!!

Maeghan and Josh are two of the sweetest people I have ever met! Photographing them around their alma mater of Vanderbilt University was so much fun. You can just see the love they have for each other in every frame. Engagement sessions like this make me SO excited for their upcoming wedding. Maeghan and Josh – the countdown is on!!

Tiffany and Scott – Nashville Engagement Session

Tiffany and Scott are just so darn cute together. I had such a great time at their engagement session last weekend. They introduced me to the couple responsible for the revitalization of East Nashville, showed me the spot where they had their second date, and the three of us got to know each other better – always a good thing before the wedding day! Oh and we also took some pictures Tiffany and Scott – thanks so much for being so much fun! Can’t wait for your big day!!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking some glamor headshots for Loni to use for an upcoming pageant. Lauren and Adam – Cedarwood Engagement Session

My maternity leave is officially over and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to get back in the swing of things than photographing Lauren and Adam. Lauren is just as much of a wedding junkie as I am – so much so that she is documenting her wedding planning as a blogger for WeddingBee! She is also a nurse, and if you know me, you know that my medical field clients are some of my most favorite! Needless to say, we really hit it off from the first time we met Her fiance Adam is awesome because he can quote Zoolander (Ben Stiller is my pretend boyfriend) and indulged the love of props that Lauren and I share. And the best “prop” of all? Their absolutely adorable pup Echo. You all know what a dog nut I am and this little guy just stole my heart. Such a wonderful session has me so excited for their wedding at Cedarwood in May!

March of Dimes Walk for Babies

Sometimes I still cry when I think of the day the girls were born. Unfortunately, it isn’t in the normal way most mothers cry when they think about their children’s birth being one of the happiest days of their life. I cry because it was scary. I cry because I wonder if there is anything else I could have done to keep them from being born so early. I cry thinking of how drastically different our outcome could have been if they had been born just a few decades earlier. But through all the tears I am thankful. I am thankful to God for keeping them in that extra 6 weeks after I first went into labor and I am thankful to the March of Dimes for having funded the research that made our happy family possible.

I am participating in the March of Dimes Walk for Babies because I don’t want anyone else to have to think back on the day their babies were born with sadness. I don’t want any of you to have your first look at your baby be one of fear. I want better for you and I want better for babies. Please help me make a day when all babies are born healthy a reality by making a donation on my Walk for Babies fundraising page.

So Much to Talk about…

So little time!! As you can imagine, my life is busier than ever with our girls growing more alert and awake everyday. I have so many things I need to blog about and yet at the end of the day I find myself just collapsing onto the couch! Well today is going to be different folks. Tonight it is 10:30pm, all my babies are sleeping and instead of sleeping too I’m going to share with you all the things swimming around in my head! As per usual when I have so much to say, I am going to put it into list form

1) I’ve been working feverishly at getting donations together for the first annual Wish Upon a Wedding Nashville Chapter Gala! 2) Since I’ve had the girls, I’ve had tons of past clients mentioning how they can’t wait until they have little bundles of joy for me to photograph. Now, while I absolutely want every one of my clients to let me know when they are expecting so that I can cheer them on and peek at pics of their adorable babies on facebook, I am in no way a baby photographer. I’m really just experimenting on photographing my babies. I’m much more comfortable photographing weddings and dogs, those are the areas where my strengths lie. I am a big believer in specialization so when it comes to photographs of my babies and my family I practiced what I preach and hired a baby/family photographer! My friend Sara of Sara E Rose Photography is documenting our first year of being a family and I highly recommend her. I am super picky when it comes to photographs, so you know if I chose her to document our family, she is really fabulous

3) This is probably the thing I am most excited about sharing with you. After years of running Lotus Blossom Photography at night and on the weekend while working full time in marketing 40+ hours per week, I am now officially a full time photographer (and mom too). It is a huge leap of faith, but it something I have been working towards since the start of our business and I couldn’t be more excited for it to finally be happening!
